Impressive Snowboard Kids Tricks
Snowboard kids tricks don’t have to be complicated to be impressive. In fact some tricks are very impressive but your kids will probably have no problems once they’ve been at it a few times. The great thing about these basic snowboard kids tricks is that once you get better at them you can add your own flair to them.
You can also make the tricks ‘bigger’ and more impressive. All kids want to learn tricks that will make everyone gasp, so a backside 180 is a good trick to practice for that wow factor. It will take some time to master but anyone who can do an Ollie or jump can do this great trick.
The Backside 180
The backside 180 takes some practice to get the hang of. You need to be comfortable with the height you’re going to be jumping. Say about two or three feet for your first few attempts. When you are teaching or learning snowboard kids tricks you want to start small.
Don’t be overambitious and go for huge jumps. This will only lead to a bad injury. So just go with a height you are comfortable with. When you learn snowboard tricks you should always pace yourself, don’t try and compete with anyone or push yourself past a place where you’re comfortable.
Approach the jump at a speed you would normally use when doing a normal jump. The difference is that when you reach the edge of the jump you need to spring off the toe side edge of your board. So far this is exactly like all the other snowboard kids tricks you have done before.
The difference now is in how you will move in the air. Once you’re in the air you need to rotate your body, this is where the 180 part of the name comes from. You should rotate your body using your shoulders; the rest of your body will soon follow.
A good way to do this is to drop your back shoulder just a little while remaining crouched. Your legs should be pulled up so that they are near your chest. The front shoulder guides the rest of your body by moving round and over to the opposite side.
You only want to go 180, not a whole 360 so make the movement slow and don’t be too aggressive with it. When you’re spin has reached the halfway point, that is the 90 degree point, you need to grab your board with your rear hand on the heel side.
You should also look for your landing at the 90 degree point. Once you have your landing in sight you can turn the rest of the 90 degrees. You will feel your body and board wanting to turn that way as well. Stay in the center of your board and land with knees bent. You have now learnt one of the most impressive snowboard kids tricks.
