Renters Need Home Security Systems, Too!
You could live in the most peaceful apartment complex or housing suburb, with little crime and few break-ins, but, as Murphy’s Law goes, your house may one day be the target of a potential burglar. In today’s society, there are many people who want something for nothing and they’re not going to let a little thing like laws stand in their way. They’ll break into your apartment or rental home and take what they want, destroy your property, or worse. Therefore, even if you’re a renter, renters home security systems are a good idea. There are several options you have as a renter when it comes to security systems. You can go with a professional security company, your cable company, or you can buy a do it yourself renters home security system. It all depends on how much security you want and how much your budget is.
Professional Security Companies
When you call a professional security company to inquire about renters home security systems, you know at least that you can trust the person installing the system. These systems will emit high decibel sounds if you are broken into, they’ll alert the police so that an officer can come out to investigate, they’ll inform you if there’s a fire in your apartment or rental home and much more. These systems can cost quite a bit of money but they’re your best defense against burglary or property destruction.
Your Cable Company
Many cable companies now offer renters home security systems that go along with your cable services. These will also emit high decibel sounds, alert the police and they’ll also alert you to make sure it’s not a false alarm. The best part is that you pay this bill along with your cable bill so it leaves less of a hassle.
Do It Yourself Models
If you’re looking to save a little money, as most renters are, you can always buy a do it yourself renters home security system. These are typically battery powered and they stick to your wall with a piece of double stick adhesive. There are two magnetic pieces that attach to the wall and your door and/or windows. When armed, and the door or window is opened, they will emit a high decibel sound that is meant to scare away any burglars. These can be very affective at deterring crime or destruction to your property and they will save you a lot of money. The downside is that people may ignore the sound if you’re not home, as many people unfortunately tend to do when they hear an alarm going off, and the police or you won’t be able to be notified if you are broken into. It’s merely a deterrent if a crime is occurring at that time. Therefore, if you are looking for a little more security, it’s worth it to pay a little more money and go with the above two choices.
