Many victims of this disorder are not even aware that they are suffering from this disorder because the symptoms are not so noticeable.

Children and adults with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder basically suffer the same symptoms. However, the main difference is that children tend to experience it more externally and adults tend to experience it more internally. Both children and adults are diagnosed in the same way.

It is believed that in some people, the symptoms decrease with age; however, they do not usually go away. Many highly intelligent people suffer from this disorder and pretend to be smart and well established, when the real truth is they are a psychological mess. They have very poor or low self esteem, feelings of worthlessness, and a lost of interest in all aspects of their lives.

Procrastination is also a very common symptom in adults with adult attention deficit disorder. They always seem to be putting off many important things in their lives. Other adults will also suffer bouts of depression and other mental illnesses that can be linked to adult attention deficit disorder. The symptoms of and adult attention deficit disorder diagnosis will vary from one person to another.

Coping with an Adult Attention Disorder Diagnosis

Getting an adult attention disorder diagnosis may not always be an easy thing. It is not easy for all people to accept they fact that they might be suffering from a mental disorder. Therefore, you should discuss your thoughts and concerns about the disorder frequently with your doctor. Fortunately, it is not the type of disorder that is very evident to others. You can have the disorder and not tell anyone about it. However, it is best to let the important people in your life know about the disorder because they will be better able to understand and support you during this time.
