Keeping children happy in a restaurant is the responsibility of both the caregivers and the owner of the establishment. Of course not all restaurants are designed for people to take their children to. Yet if yours is then you need to make sure parents feel comfortable bringing them in. The more you can do to help them keep their children happy the better it will be. Your other guests will appreciate it too because they can enjoy their meal with out children being upset or crying.

The majority of restaurants offer both booths and tables. You don't have to but it is strongly encouraged. Many people will have a preference as to which one they sit in. You will find individuals with small children often request a booth. Always make sure you ask what they want instead of just assigning them one or the other. It is easier to prevent children from falling and to keep them seated.

You should have more than just a couple of high chairs on hand. During peak business hours you may find you run short on them. This can make enjoying a meal hard on a parent. Young children tend to squirm and get their hands into things on the table. Help them to relax and make the experience a pleasant on. Always make sure you have high chairs that are safe to use as well.

For many children, one of the hardest parts of being in a restaurant is waiting for their food. This is when they tend to become the most active. If you can offer them a very light food item to get them started it can take the edge off of it. Take to the parents to see if this is something they may be able to benefit from or not.

Think of fun but inexpensive games you can offer on each of the tables. There are plenty of them out there that can be entertaining. Some of them will challenge their skills and others will allow them to be creative. It is a good idea to go with those that can be easily be wiped down.

You can also offer coloring sheets with crayons. These are really fun for children and they often look forward to getting them. There are many that are part of the place mat. Some have games on them too such as matching and simple mazes to get to the end of. Parents can help their children to complete them if they aren't able to do it on their own.

Many parents will choose to bring along some toys or games that they know will entertain their children. This is a nice gesture on their part as well. Most parents don't expect the restaurant to take care of it all of them. The definitely do encourage the help though. You will find this can help you to retain visits from certain families on a regular basis.

If you do your part to keep children happy at your restaurant it will pay off. You will have happy families that choose to come in and eat. They are going to feel very comfortable in your business. Trust me, when you have a family you have to be concerned about more than just the taste of the food when you go to a restaurant.
