Menozac: The Natural Menopause Treatment
Lisa Davies
The menopause in a natural and important part of a woman's life cycle. It generally occurs sometime between the late forties and early fifties but for some it can start in the thirties or even younger. The menopause signals the end of menstruation and officially starts 12 months after a woman's final period. There are three stages to the menopause - early or perimenopause, menopause and post-menopause.
Perimenopause, otherwise known as menopause transition, actually begins several years before the start of the menopause. When a woman reaches her forties the ovaries start to produce less and less estrogen. On average this stage lasts for about four years but for others it could just be a few months or even as long as ten years. Towards the end of the transition stage the decrease of estrogen levels really speeds up and this is when you start seeing menopausal symptoms. Symptoms such as hot flashes, irregular periods, loss of libido, vaginal dryness, fatigue, fluctuations in weight, memory loss, headaches, and mood swings. It is at the end of this stage that the ovaries stop releasing eggs and the menopause starts.
The symptoms of menopause and hypothyroidism can be similar and so easily confused. A thyroid screening may be ordered by your doctor in order to to determine which condition is actually affecting you so be sure to discuss all symptoms with your doctor. When the symptoms of menopause start to wear off you may have increased risk of longer term health problems which are related to low estrogen and you may need to consult your doctor about managing your hormone levels.
One of the most widely used treatments for the menopause is HRT or Hormone Replacement Therapy. One of the pros of using Hormone Replacement Therapy is that it is also very good for osteoporosis and heart disease. Not all women like taking this, however, because it carries with it an increased risk of Endometrial cancer, strokes and blood clots and would therefore rather a more natural treatment. Certain herbs are known to be very good for treating many of the symptoms associated with the menopause and one popular natural herbal remedy is Menozac.
Some of the ingredients which Menozac incorporates include Black Cohosh which has long been known for it's ability to alleviate, symptoms related to the menopause, Soy which contains natural plant estrogens and Damaiana for relieving anxiety and helping to induce a state of relaxation. Damiana is believed to be very helpful to those women who are suffering from sexual anxieties and problems related to the menopause.
One final thing to bear in mind is that it is still possible to become pregnant while experiencing menopausal symptoms so if you are sexually active make sure you continue to use birth control for at least a year after the start of menopause.
