Simple Things to Avoid in Kitchen Layout Designs

Jerry Blackburn

Often, those planning a kitchen remodeling project are so focused on getting exactly what they want for their kitchen that they disregard some of the logical, simple things to be avoided in a kitchen remodeling layout. The typical problem is that people tend to think only their individual needs when planning the remodeling layout and forget that others will use their kitchen at some point in the kitchen, likely after they sell the home sooner or later. If you are on the process of planning your kitchen design, here are some of these simple things you should avoid.

Avoid Insisting on Putting in a Kitchen Triangle

Although you may have watched your dad and mom work in the kitchen triangle while growing up, it is not necessary that you have one in your own kitchen. Yes, a kitchen triangle can be helpful at times but if you have a fairly large sized kitchen, it really is not appropriate to have a kitchen triangle in the middle of this room. Rather, consider using a designer workstation that is, certainly, more welcoming in a larger kitchen than the traditional triangle.

Do Not Design Your Kitchen For Only One Person

Even if you are currently single and the only one using your kitchen, this is not sufficient reason to plan your kitchen design based on these circumstances. Unless you have decided to become a hermit for the remainder of your life, never design your kitchen remodeling layout for only one person. Think of the future when designing your new kitchen, even if you have no plans of marriage or kids in your future. You are sure to share your kitchen with someone in the future so be sure your kitchen is large enough for this situation. Besides, it is always nice to have enough space to move around while preparing food. If you can afford it, do not limit your kitchen space.

Do Not Limit Yourself on Storage Spaces

When it comes to designing your kitchen remodeling layout, never short yourself on storage space. It does not matter if you have no present need for storing a lot of food or other items in your kitchen. Usually, things in your home accumulate over time so be sure you provide enough space to store these items to prevent excess clutter in the future. Besides, a kitchen that has enough space for everything will look cleaner and far more put together.

You can find many other useful tips online to ensure you create the finest remodeling kitchen design possible so you can enjoy your kitchen to its fullest potential without diminishing your home's future resale value. Be sure to look beyond your current kitchen needs and wants to consider not only your future circumstances and needs, but also functional needs of others that may one day use your kitchen.
