iBiza is known as a party island. The clubs are centred around two towns iBiza Town and Sant Antoni. The clubs of iBiza are at the very heart of world dance music. iBiza clubbing normally starts in June with the opening parties of Space and DC10 and the island comes to a sudden halt for the the closing parties which are usually held on the first weekend of October.
iBiza government is trying to improve iBiza image and is putting a stop to the more outrageous hedonism. Clubs are being ordered to close at 6am before the islands school children head off for school. All news hotels on the island have to be upmarket. 5 stars at least. Most believe this is the right direction for the island.
However out of seaason the whole island is empty of tourists and the clubs are shut. Tourists who plan to travel to the island prior to June or after September should expect a quieter time with more unsettled weather.
Es Vedr can be seen from the west coast of the island, it's a giant rock rising out of the med. and some claim it is the third most magnetic point on Earth (after the North Pole and the Bermuda Triangle). Sailers in iBiza refuse to go near it for superstitious reasons, although the winds can wip around it unpredictably.
