- There are a wide range of stores that sell and accept gift cards. You can find gift cards for coffee shops, bookstores, fashion outlets, home improvement stores and more. The key is to find a store where your recipient is a frequent patron of. That where you should get her a gift card for.
- There are times when you really can't tell what a recipient's interests are. The best way to discover that is to inquire. Some people you know might be better acquainted with your recipient. You can find out from them if your recipient has a particular preference for a store or an item that can be bought from several stores.
- Some cards are limited to stores. Some other cards however can be used in different shops and stores. You might want to consider giving cards like these instead of store specific ones. This will at least limit your risk of choosing an incorrect card to give.
- Gift giving credit cards aren't always convenient to order and purchase. To save yourself a lot of trouble, you should choose a card type that is nearly hassle free when it comes to ordering. Some card types can be conveniently bought online. All you would have to do would be to wait for the card to arrive either on your doorstep or directly to your gift recipient.
- You don't want your recipient to wait for gift card activation. Choose a card that can automatically be used once your recipient gets it. Do remember though that many gift cards have expiration dates. Don't buy cards ahead if the occasion you are buying it for is still months away.
- The amounts indicated in gift cards vary. The best gift card is the one with values that will match your recipient. You can't give a card for example to an adult if the card's value is better suited to a kid.
- There are some cards that allow reloading. Some recipients may appreciate this feature. Do check though if there are limitations or conditions to this feature. Extra fees may be involved to make reloading possible.
- What happens if your recipient can't spend everything in a card? The perfect type of card type would let your recipient get the extra cash. Ask if the card you bought has this feature.
