How Liquid Dancing Came To Be
Chris Channing
Liquid dancing is a popular dance technique that incorporates many different styles of other dance techniques. It has been known to include moves such as "the robot," borrow moves from funk, and even become as inspiring as the interpretation dance style that has become so popular.
Liquid dancing is seen by many as just an extension of other dance types such as glowsticking or other popular club dance types. Most agree that the liquid dance got its rise to fame in the underground club era that was present in the 80's and 90's, in which they were commonly called raves because parties would last all night and feature techno music themes.
Liquid dancing is simple enough to get down in theory, but actually going about doing the dance when in the midst of others can prove to be a task in itself. Liquid dancing focuses on being in tune with rhythm, in which case just reading about the dance moves will do little for those who wish to practice the acclaimed dancing style. Without the rhythm in check, it's said that liquid dancing is not being performed.
The moves that belong to the ways and styles of the liquid dancing technique are vast. Of the more popular moves is the "trace" move. The trace is simple- just trace an outline, usually one's body, in a fluid and eloquent manner. Other motions such as the "wave" will give the impression that one's body is fluidly conforming to the waves found in oceans, in a very peaceful and tranquil state.
Glowsticking doesn't sound like it would have much use in the tranquil and peaceful moves of the liquid dance movement, but indeed it does. Glowsticks are very often used to supplement the motions of a liquid dance, so as to give more of an expression, meaning, and visual appeal to the dance that one is performing. It is very popular among raves, trance music gatherings, and other related events. The usage of glowsticks is not always permitted in some clubs, however.
Learning the liquid dancing style isn't hard like some dance techniques. This is because liquid dancing primarily focuses on rhythm and visual appeal instead of complex maneuvers and attention grabbing techniques. Liquid dancing can, however, use harder to learn tricks- and in which case an online video or a trip to the rental store will be necessary, as many liquid dancing moves are visual oriented. The good news is that much of the dancing style can be learned by visiting a club, watching videos, and reading more in just a few days.
In Conclusion
Because liquid dancing is so free form and independent, virtually anyone could make up their own ways of liquid dancing and pass it off as the real thing. As long as fluid movements and a sensible amount of rhythm are observed, the dancing style can be considered liquid dancing. However, it's good to learn more on the subject from others at raves, clubs, and parties- not to mention renting videos and reading more on the vast subject of liquid dancing wherever possible.
