What is the Auto University?
I don't know if Zig Ziglar was the first to coin the phrase "Auto University", but he's definitely one of the strongest proponents of it. In fact, he claims, "It's the most important university in America." I agree with him.
When you're learning in your car, you're attending Auto University. All that is required is a car and some sort of learning audio program that you can listen to.
Should you enroll in Auto University?
The truth is that most of us spend our time mindlessly listening to our favorite music stations with their countless useless commercials. My favorite music station has a truly trivial trivia question at the top of every hour. Questions like, "How much cheese does the average American consume in a year?"
Of course, you're welcome to continue to listen to your music programs. All I'm saying is that if you want to improve your life and business skills, you really need to enroll in Auto University.
But if you think you want a better life, start collecting motivational and skill-improving audio programs now.
When Should You Listen?
How about every time you get in the car? If you're a regular professional, you should have the Auto University going every minute of your commute.
Does your commute add stress to your life? You're not alone. IBM recently released a study that found that "45% of all drivers surveyed report traffic congestion increases their stress levels". But you can transform your stress into learning by listening to positive training programs.
If you're a sales professional, you'll find plenty of time to listen to audio programs between appointments. As you learn vital selling skills, you'll find yourself closing more deals and with increased success. Find the best programs and listen to them until you have completely assimilated them into your way of selling.
Just think, you could potentially learn a new skill in between appointments that could help you close that next deal. That would be well worth the price of admission into the Auto University. Listen to the programs until you have them memorized. Then your responses in a given situation will be automatic, because the programs will have been completely assimilated.
What Should You Listen To?
Excellent audio programs abound. However, I would start with the best. Start with known success coaches: Zig Ziglar, Brian Tracy, Earl Nightingale, Denis Waitley, Jay Abraham, Tony Robbins, Napoleon Hill, or Jim Rohn.
But above all else, find audio programs that will help you grow. If there ever comes a point in your life when you become stagnant, return to Auto University.
