Brian calls this law the Law of Forced Efficiency. It says:
"There's never enough time to do everything, but there's always enough time to do the most important things."
Most of us lack the discipline to stick with a task until it is complete. By the following the Law of Forced Efficiency, you will learn the discipline to keep your head down until the task is completed.
To implement the Law of Forced Efficiency, Brian Tracy suggests that you ask yourself Four Great Questions:
1. Before you start on anything, always ask yourself "What is going to be the most important thing for me to do right now?"
2. Next ask yourself, "Why am I on the payroll?" "What can I do that will most determine my success?"
3. What tasks do you do, when done right, make a significant difference?
4. What is the one item, right now, that would be the most valuable use of your time?
If you answer these questions honestly and have courage, they will tell you what you need to be working on right now. Ask yourself these questions throughout the day to keep yourself on course.
Don't rely on your own understanding of your job to figure out your most important task. Seek input from your superiors and equals. Only when you are completely clear on the answers to these questions, will you be able to work on the most important things.
How to Proceed:
1. Make a list of everything you need to get done.
2. Ask the Four Great Questions about each of the items on your list.
3. Once you identify the most valuable use of your time, start working on that task right away.
Follow this one Brian Tracy Success Technique and you'll be well on your way to doubling your productivity. Work on getting as many of Brian Tracy's sales training programs as you can get your hands on.
