Traffic Speeding Tickets Aren't Wanted

By: Nicky Patterson

traffic speeding ticket

I have never gotten a traffic speeding ticket, though I can’t say I shouldn’t have. My husband tells me that I have got to slow down, and I do for the most part, but when I get on the highway I have a problem staying within the speed limit. I’m not one of those that goes 90 and zooms in and out of traffic, but I do tend to go 70 or 75. I do go slower when my daughter is in the car, but for some reason I just can’t seem to slow down when I am on my own.

I know that I will probably end up getting a traffic speeding ticket one of these days, and I do know I have been lucky thus far. I am not nearly as bad as many that I know, and I can’t imagine that I am in the minority. There are a lot of people who refuses to slow down, and they are the ones that rarely seem to get the speeding tickets. It seems like the people that usually follow the speed limit are the ones that get caught the one time they decide to go a little faster.

My husband has never gotten a traffic speeding ticket either, but I think that is just luck as well. He’s not quite as bad as I am, but he does go too fast on occasion. Those occasions don’t usually occur when our daughter is in the car, so perhaps she has helped the both of us to avoid getting a traffic speeding ticket. Though we should be worried about ourselves for her sake, having her in the car is a very apparent reminder to slow down.

When you get a traffic speeding ticket, you should know that it will add points to your license, and your insurance might go up. You can fight the ticket, but you had better have a good reason for our speeding. There are times when an officer will not write you a ticket, but they will issue you with a warning. It depends on the situation and how fast you were going as apposed to everyone else on the road. If you are going extremely fast, you may find yourself with a whole new set of problems. You might get a ticket for reckless driving, and that is much worse for your license and your wallet.
