Not many people know this about me, but one of my favorite hobbies is collecting novelty license plates. I started a few years ago when my state revised the law to require just one tag per vehicle, and I’ve been going strong ever since. Now I always have a novelty license plate at the front of my car, with a regulation tag in the back.
What kind of novelty license plates do I collect? Just about anything that looks cool! There are so many different styles and designs out there that I’ll never run out of new tags to display. Some of them feature the logos of my favorite pro and college sports teams, while others bear the images of movie stars, rockers, or even cartoon characters.
I like to change the novelty license plate on my car every few weeks or so to keep things interesting. That means I constantly have to be on the lookout for new designs to add to my collection. And even though these products are relatively cheap to begin with, I don’t just make purchases indiscriminately without doing any price comparisons. After all, I order at least 5-10 tags every time I shop for them, so my tab can still add up to a substantial number pretty quickly.
As a result, I’ve learned to purchase my novelty license plates online whenever possible. Don’t get me wrong, I still like to buy them as souvenirs when I go on vacation or attend a special event where they’re sold, but I can’t afford to pay full retail price for every single purchase I make. So now I go to one of many websites that offer discount novelty license plates online in order to save money. This actually allows me to make more purchases in the long run, so I’m happy with the arrangement.
Plus, I’ve come across some pretty cool sites while shopping for novelty license plates online. Some of these places allow customers to create their own designs and logos, which is an option I plan to take advantage of soon. Other stores allow customers to modify existing designs by changing up colors and fonts. This is a fun feature that can yield some truly unique results.
The bottom line here is that novelty license plates look far better than the state-issued tags that most drivers are content to use. That’s the main reason why I’ll always have one on the front of my car!
