Ice Cream Machine
When I graduated from college I had a hard time finding a job in my field. I knew this might be a problem as the career I chose was not exactly a common one. While I was looking for a job in my chosen career, I took a job at an ice cream store to pay the bills. Though this was not a bad job overall, I can’t say that I enjoyed having to clean up the ice cream machine. It wasn’t overly complicated, but it wasn’t something that I looked forward to either.
In order to clean an ice cream machine properly you have to take it apart. There are many parts and pieces, and they have to be taken apart, cleaned, and soaked in a solution to make sure they are sterile. Quite often I would have to clean more than one ice cream machine at a time. Luckily for me, each of the different parts would fit each of the different machines no matter which one they came off of in the first place. After this part was done, I had to clean the ice cream machine itself. After all of the ice cream was drained, and the parts were placed in the sterilizer, then would come the hard scrubbing part.
Cleaning the outside of a ice cream machine was not that difficult. For the most part it simply needed to be wiped down and then cleaned with a silver cleaner. The inside was another story. Once all of the ice cream was scrubbed out, I would then have to dump the sterilizer in so it would go through the machine. When the parts of the ice cream machine were taken apart, this meant that I would have to have a bucket there to catch each and every dribble. Even though that sounds very complicated, it was more of a pain and anything. The cleaning part was just a part of the job, and after awhile you just got used to it.
After every part of the ice cream machine was cleaned, I could then put it back together. This was usually the easy part. It took me awhile to learn how to put the pieces back together correctly, but once I got the hang of it became second nature. Just like with anything in any other job, once you know what you’re doing you can get done with each task rather quickly. I eventually left that job for one in my chosen field, but I will never forget the days when I had to take apart and clean and ice cream machine. It makes me appreciate those who have that type of job even more.
