Ways For Backyard Putting Green

By: Dale Viviano

I used to love to garden. Every weekend, I would usually spend at least ten hours outside just working on my vegetables and flower beds. I did not consider it work at all. It was just something to help me to relax. The problem is that I do not have half as much time to just kick back and relax as I used to have. Every moment of free time has to count now that I am working over 60 hours a week. That is why I decided to ditch the garden and get a backyard putting green.

Of course, I have been playing on indoor outdoor putting greens for a long time. At my workplace, we actually have a portable putting green set up in the break room. It is a great office, equipped with everything you would want to have at your workplace. Unfortunately, it does not really matter. We never have time to use any of the gadgets!

Backyard putting greens seemed like the ideal solution. You see, most weekends I do not have the time for a full game of golf. I love to go out with my friends and play whenever I get the chance, but that happens less and less often nowadays. Building a putting green just made sense. It is humiliating to lose every time you play, but I just do not have the time to drive out to the course and practice between games. With the backyard putting green, however, I can get in a few minutes of golf practice every single day.

What I like most about that backyard putting green is that it is a great alternative to vegetating in front of the tv. Backyard sports in general are a great way to blow off some steam after work, but most of them require too much energy. Playing backyard golf, however, is just about right. It is relaxing and easy, but it still keeps me up and moving around a little. It lets me unwind and work out some of the kinks in my back from sitting at the desk all day.

The only problem is that it sort of crowds my yard a little bit. When I had a garden in the yard, it all seemed pretty walkable and relaxed. With the backyard putting green right in the middle, however, most of the yard is taken up by artificial turf. It is a great activity, but not a very attractive backyard decoration.
