Scuba Diving In London Reveals Hidden Treasures

By: Jordan Thompson

Scuba Diving In London Offers Glimpses Of The Past

When many people think about scuba diving, their thoughts generally focus on the warm waters of oceans and seas near the equator. However, no matter where a diver lives, there is usually water available for exploration and scuba diving in London is becoming one of the more popular pastimes of this country’s underwater swimmers. From the English Channel to the south, to the North Sea to the east, scuba diving in London offers diverse underwater geography and can provide numerous history lessons as well.

The southern coast of the country is home to countless shipwrecks that offer not only a historical perspective of maritime history, but also the reefs that they have formed off the coast. Wildlife in the undersea world is also a spectacle with seals living in and around the many kelp forests growing underwater. While scuba diving in London it is also possible to spot sharks absorbing the warm sunshine during the summer season as they swim in from the North Atlantic Ocean to the west of the United Kingdom.

Dive schools have grown significantly with divers maintaining their underwater breathing abilities throughout the year in many pools designed for that purpose, keeping them fit and ready to hit the ocean waters at the beginning of the season for scuba diving in London.

Surrounding Waters Offer Additional Adventures

When the North Atlantic and English Channels become too tame for the experienced divers, they can head south and swim the English Channel underwater and explore the many boats that failed to traverse this channel while scuba diving in London. Further north off the coast of the United Kingdom, Faroe Island offers some impressive diving in the surrounding waters. To the east of London, the North Sea is inviting to divers looking for additional history lessons as well as some of the more colorful undersea life growing along the shore.

Bristol Channel on the western side of the country also offers a look through history as does the Irish Sea a little further to the north. While not many divers understand the many sights and historical perspectives that can be gained by scuba diving in London, more and more people are finding out that, despite a relatively short diving season, these dives offer some of the most exciting scenery discovered off the shore of the United Kingdom. Divers of different qualifications can find the water they are looking for when they seek to go scuba diving in London.
