Getting your Vending Machines Ready for Summer
Robert Farnham
Summer is upon us and that means there is likely to be some changes for your vending machine business. In many instances sales significantly increase due to people being outdoors and on the go more often. The specific changes that are in store for you though depends on where your vending machines are located. The first order of business is to make sure you are happy with where they are.
This will be different for everyone so there is no set formula to use. For example if you are still paying for the equipment then you will need to make more money from your vending machines so you can clear some profit. Therefore you may have a good location, but need an excellent one. You may have one that is just so and you want to increase your level of sales.
This is a great time to do some routine maintenance on all of your vending machines. You need to make sure they are in excellent working condition so that people have the opportunity to make their purchases from them. You don't want them to be breaking down all summer and preventing you from making as much money as you could have.
If you need to replace parts or even entire machines, now is the time to do it. Invest in the process with what fits into your budget. That way you can feel good about your choice and you won't be completely dependent upon great sales to keep your business going. Carefully evaluate your budget as brand new machines may not be in your budget. However, you can often get some great deals on used ones that have plenty of life left in them.
You may want to consider changing some of the items you offer during the summer months. For example many people prefer to buy water over other types of beverages when it is hot. You may want to fill up a couple more slots on the vending machines with it so that there is always some available. If you have a snack machine offer those a good selection of satisfying snacks that aren't going to melt in the hot sun.
It is very likely that the products in your vending machines will sell out faster over the summer months. You may need to go there twice as often as you are right now to keep it stocked. Some owners find they have to go three times as often so make sure you are finding the time in your schedule to do this. Vending machines that are sold out when you arrive to fill them need to be given attention more than they are.
Summer is coming and you want to be prepared so you can make more money with your vending machine business. By planning ahead and being committed to your customers needs you can do so. Be willing to meet the challenges so that you can depend on your vending machines to do what you intended them to.
Many vending machine owners will tell you the count on high profits from the summer months to get them through other times of the year. Make sure you aren't preventing this from working well for you. This is an opportunity for you to be able to have a very successful vending machine business. Preparing for summer can make the difference between getting buy and really having some profits to put away.
