Do you have a small kitchen? Do you feel stifled? Cramped for space? Frustrated? Having a small kitchen does not have to be an inconvenience. There are many things that you can do when remodeling your kitchen to maximize the space that you do have. You can open up space that you never even new existed!

Maximize Your Kitchen Space

The first step to creating the perfect kitchen is to make the best possible use of the space that you already have. The best way of maximizing your kitchen space is to ensure that you have sufficient storage space.

In a crowded kitchen, finding room for storage is very important because otherwise you'll end up with items sitting out on the counter tops, and these will add to your feeling of a small and crowded kitchen. So, the first thing that you should do is maximize the storage space.

Create More Room

Going through your storage can be tough, but if you can remodel to create more, you'll find more space. For instance, replace your cupboards until you have counter to ceiling ones. Make sure that you can access the cupboards, and store the things that you hardly use on the top shelf. A cute foot-stool is necessary, but you'll be thankful for the additional storage space. Then, think about under counter storage. If you can maximize this by using rotating cupboards in the corner, and making sure that there is no wasted space, you'll be happier.

Once you've made as much storage as you can, there are some tips that you can follow to create even more room for yourself. Installing slightly deeper counter tops will give you more room to work, and getting rid of your center island will create a more open looking and feeling area in your kitchen. You want to be sure that you are keeping storage in mind each time you think about remodeling.

Making More Space

When remodeling a small kitchen, tiny details can make a huge difference. If you wish you have a kitchen rug, choose a small one. This will help to give the appearance of a larger kitchen area. Create more overhead space by hanging your light fittings closer to the roof.

Select the appropriate furniture for your small kitchen. Removing a kitchen table and replacing it with a counter with stools will also maximize your working area. The stools should be narrow enough so that they can be tucked under the kitchen counter after use.

Remodeling a small kitchen to create more space may seem like quite a daunting task, but do not let this deter you. Be creative! Let your mind wander! Design the kitchen of your dreams that allows you enough space to work comfortably and happily.
