Everywhere you look, it seems like the same hairstyle is staring right back at you. Are you looking for a fun, creative, new style? Try kinky twists! Kinky twists are great for the person with an active lifestyle because they are so easy to maintain. Kinky twists look similar to the popular micro braids, but they are actually twists.

Thinking about getting kinky twists? Here are some points to keep in mind:

1. Using a little bit of gel on the natural hair will keep any stray hairs from popping out of the twist.

2. Some people find it difficult to start off with a twist. The actual twisting technique is difficult to develop at first, so try starting your twist with a cornrow if you are having difficulties. Cornrow down at least once but no more than twice. This will ensure that your twist is secure at the root, making it easier to complete the kinky twists.

3. Kinky twists have such a unique look because you are not only twisting the two strands of hair individually, but you are also twisting the pieces across each other.

4. To have a finished style that appears fuller, try staggering the parts. Layering the parts one on top of the other will allow the twists to fall on top of the empty part, not on top of another twist.

5. To protect your style while sleeping, wrap your head in a silk scarf just before going to bed. If you don't have a silk scarf, a silk pillowcase will be fine.

Unlike cornrows, kinky twists don't lay on the scalp; they flow freely, just like regular hair. You can use your natural hair for this style, or you can add synthetic hair. Either way, kinky twists should take around six to eight hours to complete. With proper care, they should last up to three months.

Securing the ends of your kinky twists will ensure that the twists don't unravel. To make the ends of the twists straight, just dip the ends in boiling water and towel dry. Remember, the water must be at the boiling point, so be careful around the hot water. Using a large plastic jug with a handle is very helpful. Instead of leaving the ends straight, they can also be curled. To curl the ends, roll them with a small rod. Then, dip the ends in the boiling water and towel dry.

Kinky twists are favored by many people because of their funky style and easy-to-maintain regime. If you twists become dull, just add a little oil sheen spray for added shine. Don't forget to wrap your hair up with a silk scarf before going to sleep.
