Sell Photos - Make Some Money

Photography, whether practiced as a hobby or as a profession is fun. The fun would be more if you could use of these photos to make some money, slowly and steadily, without interfering with your current work timetable, and relatively easily.

All that is needed is a digital camera and a fast broadband Internet connection. If you already have both for quite some time, the matter becomes even more simpler as you are bound to have accumulated a sizable number of photos during the course of your random ramblings or during your family vacations.

The photo industry does not differentiate your photos based on age or sex. And the photo industry is particularly large composed of magazine editors, travel agents, banks, web designers, students and even chefs. Each one of these people require a particular style or content of pictures and by trial and error and experience you can find out where your line of action falls and specialize accordingly.

You photos are not purchased based on the sex or age of the photographer. It is the content that matters most. The people who purchase photos come from all walks of life - web designers, travel agents, magazine editors, students and even banks and chefs. Each one of them has a specific requirement and the place they look for it is the Internet and that is the place where your photos aught.

Another would be to make use of Photo Stock Sites. These are online sites where you can upload your photos and wait for them to be sold. If you have had a camera for some years, then you are bound to have a stock of some photos (hence the Photo Stock Site) taken during your vacations with your family. With all the instructions required to upload photos posted on the site itself, these sites are fairly easy to use. There are a profusion of such site which can be located through the Net.

Another method would be to build and maintain your own site. This can be done in either of two ways. One, start from scratch and build your own site by yourself. This requires some in-depth knowledge of coding and SEO techniques. The decision on the layout and look of the web site, what photos should be displayed, how long they are to be exhibited are all yours. It is yours to do what you want.

An admirable way of selling photos, without using the Internet and which is applicable for those purists who still swear on their analog cameras, are photo competitions. Some more effort has to be put in by you in that you have to get the photo printed, find a suitable frame, hunt for the places where these competitions are going to be held and get you exhibit entered. Though the exposure is limited, it has its plus points. Whether your photo wins a price or not, droves of people do come and see it and photos do get sold here too.

Better start with the Stock sites at the initial stages and then graduate to one's own web site after gaining some experience. So, if you want to sell photos, try one or another or all of the methods given above and wait and see.. If your stock is limited, augment it with photos from you friends and acquaintances. Don't wait. Happy Selling!
