Stop Drinking Alcohol...How Alcohol Destroys Families

Ed Philips

We all know the basics of how to keep a relationship going, as it is mainly just plain common sense, but when you add alcohol into the equation then it's not so straight forward. Alcohol is an illness that spreads throughout the family even though some members might not even touch the stuff. A recent poll carried out did in fact suggest that family relationships along with the presence of alcohol in the family home caused family rifting in 95% of cases. Do you happen to be one of those cases?

You see once someone starts to bring alcohol into a family and they become dependant on it, no one really has spotted the problem because it's slowly crept up on them. Then when the problem has been spotted they don't really take it seriously enough and that's why you have alcoholic dysfunctional families.

It is very common for dysfunctional families to deny the existence of any alcoholic problems. You'll find that they usually develop a number of different behaviors which gives them an illusion that drinking alcohol is not affecting their family. You'll also notice that they start telling lies saying they are working late when they are really stopping off at the pub for a drink.

It really is amazing what lengths a partner will go to in order to prevent other people finding out about their partner's condition. I mean, phoning up so say their partner can't make work (just cause they have got a hangover), is just too much. The really sad thing about these sagas is that the child's suffering causes poor school results.

Once you start to learn that alcohol is causing you and your family a problem the quicker you can sort it out the better. You're not just hurting yourself when you drink, you're hurting the ones around you, who love you the most. In fact denial is one of the key systems of alcohol dependency (Alcoholism).

It is completely wrong to cover up for an alcoholic partner as you are in a way preventing them from getting the help that they really need for a better life. You see no one else would cover up for them, and just suppose that you were the alcoholic...would you want someone to help you?

This article is supposed to be an eye-opener to all those who feel the affects of alcohol in their home, whether you are the alcohol abuser or the innocent bystander. Once the problem has been discussed then help is required immediately, so you should either phone up your local branch of A.A. or have a look at a great site at stopdrinkingadvice.org which seem to have the answer to help people stop drinking alcohol and really offer some great advice.
