Children have been fascinated by pirates and treasure hunts since pirates were first around. And a pirate theme kids party, especially with a treasure hunt can be one of the most successful parties you will ever have, especially if you spend some time and effort looking for some great pirate birthday party ideas.
There are some special items you will need to plan your party, and a few organization skills will really help a lot when it comes to the big day. Of course any time that you're working with kids you need to remember to plan for the unexpected. If follow these rules, you'll find that a pirates life really can be for you.
Things should start with the right invitations. A great party invitation starts with a pirate's map. You can let "x" mark the spot for your pirates party. Give the date and also the time and let everyone know they should dress in their favorite pirate outfit. Knowing the special theme well ahead of time gives everyone a chance to pick out their best pirate garb. A fun, neat rhyme can finish off the invitation, something like "ho hum, a bottle of rum, Mary turns nine and we'll have a fine time".
Pirate decorations can be really easy. You'll want to make the area look as much like a pirate as you can. A pirate party is usually held outdoors.. This way you can find some creative places to bury the treasure for your treasure hunt. Of course, if you can't do your party outdoors, you'll just have to be that much more creative indoors.
There are almost unlimited games for pirate themed parties. The best activity, of course, is the treasure hunt. Start out by handing out clues explaining that there is a treasure map that you have divided into 4 pieces. The first clue will point to the first piece, and that will have a special clue to the next piece and so on. While all the kids are doing the treasure hunt, you'll have time to put together the refreshments.
Once the all the kids have the pieces to the map, they can start the actual treasure hunt to find the buried treasure. This can be done as an individual treasure hunt or you can divide the kids into teams. Make sure not to forget pin the peg-leg on the pirate and "walk the plank" for the younger kids, of course, assuming you have a swimming pool and the kids can swim.
These are just a few pirate birthday party ideas. Just take a little time to think about it and you'll think of loads more. Just make sure your little "pirate" has a day to remember.
