Any internet business that wants to be taken seriously will need to accept credit cards online; currently all websites that run a shopping cart must provide this service. You can't run an online business by taking checks or money orders; lost custom is practically assured.

Once you have them at your site, the last thing you want to do is place another hurdle for them to overcome; a good way to see your website customers leave is to make them wait for their order.

You need to have a way to take a payment instantly so you can get your product or service up and out the door as soon as your customer orders it. You will find that every successful website on the Internet accepts credit cards online; that is why they accept this type of payment as part of their daily business. It doesn't matter how new your website is, you will need to arrange online payments this way as soon as possible.

Although there are a variety of ways to accept credit cards online, not all of them will be a viable proposition; which systems are used will ultimately be based on cost. So the main thing is just to go with what ever one suits your needs and budget.

The Advent Of Paypal

There are many payment systems that are similar to those you will find at any establishment that accepts cards; alternatively you can use the system that many sites now use called Paypal. Paypal has become increasingly common in the last few years owing to the popularity of ebay. Ebay started the service to help people buy products from them.

A Paypal account lets a customer use their credit card in the same way they would on any other internet site; many internet users prefer to use this system over others. Internet users can be fickle but they do like to know the site they enter is safe and secure for them to use when making online payments; a secure site is something you must be prepared to provide.

This means that the transaction is encrypted so that their information is not broadcast around the Internet for those who may take those numbers for their own use. Any website that accepts credit cards online will be a secure site with the first letters of the website address being https.

This provides peace of mind to the user, so if you do not have this facility your customers will go elsewhere. It is this feeling of safety and security that ensures customers come back to your site and order from you again.
