Probably the best way to learn a foreign language like French is to go live in France for awhile. If you were able to spend several hours each day focused on learning the language you would soon be able to speak French. But for most people this is simply not possible. So the alternative is to select a French language program that will help you learn the language.
By using a French language program you will be able to learn the language on your own turf. In addition since you are likely very busy you will be able to schedule your learning around your other commitments.
The programs out there are different in nature. Some focus on auditory learning. Others focus on using pictures and video mixed with some form of interaction. Any program will help you learn French if you spend time working with it.
Wither you want to use an audio based program or a multimedia style software package you will find many options out there. Not all of them are created equal so do some research on the different options you have.
Another great way to help learn a language especially if you have already begun to understand some basic words is to watch foreign language television. If you can find movies in French from your library or you can buy them from the internet you will be able to learn even more of the language in real settings.
While the above approaches can fit into your own schedule they can also just as easily slip out of your schedule. So if you are serious about learning French then you need to be serious about keeping study time in your schedule. So while flexibility and the self paced learning style are nice they can have their downsides.
So whether you prefer to use an audio system that you can listen to anywhere or you want to use one of the great software programs out there to learn the language you will find success. The biggest factor in your success however is you. Will you take the time each day to learn to speak French?
This part can not be emphasized enough. To learn the language you will need to put in the time to learn it. Fail to take the time and you will fail to learn the language. So you will want to develop ways to keep yourself committed to learning to speak French. Use friend and family, have them ask you how you are doing. Get someone to learn with you - do whatever it takes to reach your goal.
Even if you commit to just 30 minutes a day you will make progress. Each little step adds to the next and soon you will have discovered the best way to learn French. Actually studying the language is the key. Stay committed put in the time and you will learn to speak French!
