Easy Ways To Reduce Kidney Stones Treatment
Frederic Baker
Kidney stones cause some of the most horrendous pain known to man. Whether you are suffering now from kidney stones or searching for information on preventing a reoccurrence. There are different forms of treatment available.
The first therapy you can follow immediately on your own is to monitor the types of food you ingest and the quantity or lack of exercise you practice. The intake of foods that contain oxalates such as almonds, cashews, berries, black tea, soybeans should be reduced to a minimum.
If oxalates do not travel through the urinary tract, they link with calcium to form kidney stones. It was long thought that eliminating calcium from your diet would prevent the formation of kidney stones while new research proves that is incorrect and in fact, eating dairy products may help prevent the stones from forming in the first place.
There are different types of treatment depending on the size of your kidney stones. A high fluid intake keeps the urinary tract flushed out and prevents dehydration. The most important part of your daily routine is to drink plenty of water but not too much either. Turn water drinking into a habit, take water bottles along with you, order water in restaurants, try different flavored waters, and keep ice cold water handy in your refrigerator. Doctors have discovered a daily glass of orange juice can keep kidney stones away better than lemonade that is often recommended.
Around 20% of recurring kidney stones presence is created by chronic infections in the urinary tract. While drinking water may help the small stones, infection should be treated through medication prescribed by a licenses doctor. If you are already taking prescription drugs, please inform your physician on the nature, dosage and reasons you are ingesting these drugs.
Studies show that for 3 out of 10 patients who were lacking Oxalobacter formigenes, natural bacterium in our body suffered more from the formation of kidney stones. This natural bacterium resides in our intestinal tract and combined with antibiotics will prevent the presence of infections in this area that could potentially reactivate the buildup of kidney stones. When stones reach medium size, the pain caused by the blockage of the urinary tract becomes unbearable and water has no effect until they are dissolved.
As the kidney stones get larger, medical action becomes mandatory. One of these procedures is sitting the patient in a tub of water and passing shock waves through it using a lithotripter. The stones are reduced to stone fragments that can then be expelled through urination.
When all else has failed, surgery must be performed through varying methods to remove kidney stones. From specialized scopes to laser treatments that require anesthesia or not, large stones must be removed and/or eliminated. As scientists are researching oxalates and their removal, there is hope that in the near future, the frequency of kidney stones formation may be reduced significantly.
