Have you ever watched movies where the evil wicked sorcerer ensnares an unsuspecting victim by just talking to them? Well, that's fantasy indeed, however part of it is true too. People use something called "conversational hypnosis" to influence people and mold them to their way of thinking.

The Basics of Converational Hypnosis

Conversational hypnosis is no magic or occult practice rather it is series of well-planned strategies and the art of manipulating others to convince them to your point of view. Conversational hypnosis is based on certain principles that were discovered by the revered hypnotist Milton Erickson. Erickson said that people slip into reveries several times a day. These instances may include times when they are concentrating hard on something or waiting for a bus.

Milton Erickson found that it was possible to use this type of trance like situations to get into a prospects mind. He also found that he was able to use this to change the way the prospect was thinking and feeling about a certain thing. By removing the resistance towards his suggestions he could implement any thought into the prospects mind. He also found that it was simple to use rapport and confusion to get people to enter this trance like state of mind. Rapport, confusion and suggestion are the ground pillars of conversational hypnosis.

Rapport: Building rapport is about getting into an agreement state of mind between two parties. When you agree to something a person say he or she start to think about you as a team member. He will look at you as a person with the same interests about the subject as he has. He will then start to build more trust into your messages.

When you have built rapport with a person he is more acceptant towards your suggestion. He will think of you as an associate and a team member and your meanings will have much more influence towards him.

Confusion: Confusion is the second principle of conversational hypnosis. Confusions is about bringing a subject into a state of mind where he does not know what to think himself and look at you for your advice. This is often as simple as saying "are you sure that is the right way to do this?"

Suggestion: After you have built rapport with your subject and confused him enough to get to you for an answer you are able to suggest how he can solve the problem at hand. You want to make this as subtle as possible to make him believe that he was the one who thought it out. You can say things like "how if you did it like this?" or "what do you think about doing it that way?"

You have now learned the basics of conversational hypnosis. You have learned that it is a helpful tool to influence people to accept and share your way of thinking. The power of this technique is close to limitless. Remember to use conversational hypnosis with caution and that you will benefit more from its powers if you use if for good.
