Easy Steps To Cleaning Your Blinds

Household chores can be very boring and time consuming and not many people look forward to them. Needless to say, cleaning your blinds happens to fall into that category and it is important to clean them or the little dust bunnies will accumulate.
There are tips and hints that can make cleaning your blinds much easier and more pleasant, so that you do not put it off any longer.
Your vacuum can be an immense help with this hated chore if you have a brush attachment for it, and this method will eliminate the problem of dust flying everywhere that happens with a duster.
Using socks to clean your blinds is not only creative but real quick too. Put one wet sock over your hand and a dry sock on your other hand. Alternate cleaning your blinds with wet then dry socks and in not time this chore will be done.
A small sized paintbrush is very effective for cleaning your blinds because it fits easily between the slats and the entire surface of the blind can be done in one swipe.
Soaking your blinds can also clean them without too much fuss, but you must take them down from the window for this method. Fill the sink with hot soapy water that has a splash of vinegar added, then put the blinds in the sink with the slats opened. Leave them soaking for one half to one hour and then thoroughly rinse them off and let them air dry before you put them back up. The material of your window blinds will determine whether this method can be used, because wood and cloth blinds should not be immersed in water, but aluminums or vinyl blinds work perfectly with this method.
By cleaning your blinds regularly you can keep them clean and nice looking all the time and the dust and dirt will not build up and accumulate. Or you can consider purchasing attachments for your hands and fingers that fit easily between the slats. Some of these attachments may not work as planned or are very pricey. Either way, you can experiment for what works well for you and accomplish your goal with keeping your blinds nice and clean all the time.
If you have blinds made of wood, a dusting spray like pledge can be used with a soft cloth to wipe down the slats and provide a barrier to dust, while nourishing the wood in the process. This will leave your wood shining and new looking, and keep it from drying out or cracking at the same time. No matter what material your blinds are made of, regular cleanings will give them a much longer life.
