For many people it can seem little more than a dream to get fit over 40. However, fitness shouldn't limited only to the younger generations - you too can get fit at any age. It's not just models and bodybuilders that deserve to look good as they get older. You should keep on dreaming and pursuing your goals to look good over forty.

How are you able to reach this goal when it seems like you're fighting an uphill battle, so to speak? The best way to stay young and fresh is to build some muscle. You can build muscle without looking like a body builder; instead, you'll increase strength and firm up. If you do strength training a couple times each week, no matter what your age, then you can look great and feel even better.

You can get in shape and increase your looks with body building. If you are 40 and single, you'll likely want to step up your game to attract the best potential dates. If you're recently divorced, you have a special interest in looking your best as you start dating again. Another great benefit of working out is the added confidence you'll have. No matter what your reason for looking good, developing lean muscle is good for both your health and your looks.

You will see lots of great benefits from muscle building as you get older and wiser. If you're often tired, some activity may be just the thing to snap you out of it. You can also feel exhausted if you're always on the run with errands, work or parenting obligations. You'll see your energy reserves soar from weight lifting. You'll feel better than ever when you start to get in shape. You'll be able to be on top of things and go with the flow easier when you take care of yourself first.

It doesn't stop there, though. Let's face it, there are many health problems that start to plague us as we age. The older we get, the more we increase our risk of getting sick. Even the common cold and flu seem to be attracted to us like magnets. By exercising and building muscle, you can actually give your immune system the power it needs to fight off common ailments. While everyone else in your office is sniffling and sneezing, you're likely to be sharp, focused and feeling fine.

Another important benefit of muscle building is its effect on bone density. Women in particular are at risk for developing osteoporosis as they age. Imagine having the ability to prevent your bone density from decreasing over time. By building muscle and staying fit, you can actually increase your bone density. Joint pain and risk of fractures can be minimized or even eliminated just by taking the proper steps to keep yourself in shape.

Watching what you eat and staying fit can be a total plan that acts as a defense against aging and keeps you feeling young and healthy. You'll reduce your risk of many harmful diseases by keeping lean and trim through weight training and other healthful activities.

You can stay in shape and get fit over 40 by following some simple guidelines on a consistent basis. When you watch what you eat, build some muscle and stay active, you'll feel better than you did at 20!
