A compactor, as the name suggests, is a machine that is used to minimize or reduce the size of waste material, space or soil through the process of compacting.
Compactors can be used for recycling and waste use in commercial and industrial arena. They recycle items such as aluminum cans, plastic bottles or paper products. Compactors crash and compress waste for approximately 80% less garbage.
Normally compactors are found in many shapes and sizes, but rectangular shape and large size are very common in compactors. They are operated hydraulically. A large bulldozer functions as a compactor in landfill sites to crush the waste material beneath its wheels.
These compactors are meant for hydraulic operation with different loading configurations such as Walk-On, Ground-Access and Secured Indoor Chute. They are made of welded steel.
Normally three types of compactors are there in construction arena such as the jumping jack, the road roller and the plate compactor.
A large vibrating base-plate that is found in the plate compactor is more suitable to create a level grade; in contrast with the jumping jack compactor that has a smaller foot.
With a view to compact the backfill in narrow trenches for water or gas supply pipes, the jumping jack compactor is utilized.
The roller kinds of compactors are generally used for compacting crushed rock as the base layer underneath concrete or stone foundations.
Trash compacters are employed in many service businesses such restaurants, fast food, and hotels in order to reduce the amount of non-recyclable waste as well as curb nuisance such as smell and rodents. Certain items such as disposable-diaper boxes, the non-edible portions of vegetables from a garden etc. are disposed with the help of these.
Another machine, known as baler that is used for compacting your waste products such as cardboard, plastic, paper, foil, cans, and aluminum. This baler enables efficient, safe and solid compaction of waste.
