Breast Removal Techniques: Breast Reduction at Its Best
hispanic
For people with over sized breasts, breast reduction is the only way to go. Not only does it eliminate all problems associated with over sized breasts, such as bad posture, skin rashes, skeletal deformities, as well as emotional and psychological problems, it also lets the person live a normal life, free from the burdens of a heavy chest.
However, breast reduction is no longer applicable to people who have a high risk of developing breast cancer as much as to the people already suffering from it. The only way to eliminate the threat is to undergo the process of mastectomy, or breast removal which is basically the partial complete removal of the breast. There are a number of forms of mastectomy which will be discussed below:
First is radical mastectomy. This form of mastectomy, as the name suggests completely removes the breast, as well as the other parts like the lymph nodes and the underlying tissues. Radical mastectomy has been around for a number of decades now and has saved countless patients who might or were suffering from breast cancer.
Another form of mastectomy is called total mastectomy. The procedure is quite similar to radical mastectomy except that in most cases, the lymph nodes are not surgically removed. Other forms of breast removal are called quadrantectomy and lumpectomy. Quadrantectomy is the procedure that removes a quarter or one-fourth of the breast, removing malignant tissue and tumors and leaving healthy breast tissue intact. In lumpectomy, only tumors and infected tissues are removed. This is usually preformed on patients in the early stages of breast cancer.
Since mastectomy is a permanent procedure, it is very important that a patient consult with a doctor to fully know and understand the benefits and risks of the operation. This helps the patient to cope up with living life after it, as well as prepares the patient on what exactly to expect.
