Designer T-Shirts - Your Own Personal Attire
Kathy Austin
There are T-Shirts and T-Shirts; funny t-shirts, cool t-shirts, those t-shirts and these t-shirts covering just about any subject on earth. But there is one t-shirt that is unique - and that is the "Designer" T-Shirt. Now, don't for a moment think that these distinctive kind of t-shirts are a recent phenomenon. Thomas E. Dewey toyed with the "Dew-IT with Dewey" T-Shirt during his 1948 Presidential campaign and Dwight D. Eisenhower had the "I Like Ike" custom t-shirt with which he won the Presidency in 1952. These are designer t-shirts. T-shirts designed for a specific purpose at a specific time. They may have passed out of the memory of most people, but they served their purpose.
Designer t-shirts need not be limited for a specific purpose like the Dewey and Ike ones. They can be designed for almost anything. It could convey a message or may be something nonsensical. One can be designed and worn just for the heck of it. If you like it and you wear it, there cannot be any objection to it. There is no law to say that you may not do so.
In 1952, Dwight D. Eisenhower won the Presidency with the message "I Like Ike" blazoned across t-shirts. This was a t-shirt designed for a specific purpose. But it need not always be so. Dog lovers can have a picture of their dog splashed across their bosoms or on their backs. This is just an example. Political or social statements are another. The possibilities are endless. All that is necessary is to have an idea, an inspiration and the internet is there to get the rest of the things necessary to create just that unique t-shirt for the world to view.
What if I have no talent for drawing? Maybe I should first learn to draw? In these day the use of computers is in one way or another - inevitable. Which program should I use? Where and How can I learn to use these program?
Do I have an aptitude for drawing? Should I first learn how to draw? What are the principles of design? Where can I learn the basics of computer usage? What computer program should I use? Who is going to teach me to use these programs?
In reality, the response to these queries are quite simple, as there are a number of programs, ranging from the very simple to the extremely sophisticated, that are available for drawing graphics and embedding texts. Books, offline and online guides, giving step-by-step instructions to do just about anything with these programs are easily available.
Familiarizing yourself with the functions of these drawing programs is easy since all of them come inbuilt wit some sort of basic tutorials and online tutorials and discussion groups are just as plentiful and ready to help clear just about any doubt that you want to get cleared. A in-depth knowledge of the principles of design is not absolutely required. Even here help is available on the Internet. Once you get started the rest will come along and by some perspiration one could become an adept. But in case it happens that you just don't have the aptitude, then there are always professionals to help you concretize your flash of inspiration.
The acquisition of a designer t-shirt now throws up another pertinent question. How is to be used? Well, you can selfishly keep it to your self or get a number of them for gifting to either your relatives or your friends. Specifically designed t-shirts can be used to endorse a particular product or even a specific cause. It may be given away as a corporate gift. It is only limited by your imagination.
