A Quick Guide to Vacationing in Paris

As the second largest city in Western Europe, Paris is a great place to visit; over the years it has become one of the most visited cities in the world. Renowned for its modern art and breathtaking scenery a short stay in Paris is the ideal location for a romantic weekend break; the desire to stay longer is strong as there is so much to see and do.
This city is also equally well known for its gothic architecture and markets; these include the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, markets, gardens and a history only matched by a few other European cities. Traveling through the city of Paris can be very enjoyable; the underground train system or Metro can take you to anywhere within the city and is simple to use.
At almost 1,000 feet high, the Eiffel Tower is an impressive sight; it's visible throughout most of the city but the views from the top of this huge steel structure are even more impressive. Illuminated in the evening, it is one of the most beautiful sights in the entire city; it is possible to take organized tours which tell the story of the Tower and the history of France.
If you plan on spending some of your traveler's checks in Paris, then a trip down the Champs Elysees is an essential part of a trip; it will present you with many famous designer shops and good restaurants. This avenue may be select but it attracts large numbers of visitors daily; the average tourist may find the accommodation expensive but more modest hotels can be found away from this area.
The city's famous museum, the Louvre is huge and worth a visit if you have the time; it holds in excess of 300,000 pieces of art, which cannot possibly be seen in a single visit. It would be easy for anyone on a Paris short stay vacation to spend all their time here; the Mona Lisa is one such world famous work of art which should not be missed. Many well known artists spent years of their lives in Paris; the likes of Monet, Picasso and many others lived in the city for years and some of their work can still be seen today.
The Arc de Triomphe another famous landmark was built by Napoleon in 1806; the names of his generals engraved upon it to honor them and his troops. Although not generally well known, the Arc had an observatory installed after it was constructed to provide views of neighboring areas; in particular those obtained along the lanes that lead from it
Of course this is only give a small sample places to visit; but these should certainly not to be missed because many offer regular guided tours, some at little or no charge at all. Paris short stay vacations should only ever be considered as tasters for what is a truly magnificent city; the churches, cathedrals and other museums will just have to wait for another time.
