Mountain biking can be relaxing but sometimes the wheels may need replacing and that can cause a lot of stress.

Mountain biking is a popular sport these days and it allows you to explore the world in a unique and fascinating way. However, as you will be going over all different types of terrain, there are times when your relaxing ride can turn into a frustrating nightmare. This is especially the case when your mountain bike's tire needs changing.

Changing the tire on a mountain bike is not overly difficult. However, you will need the right tools and equipment to fix the tire and you will also need to know quite a lot about your bike. If you need to change the tires on your bike then here you will find a few tips to help you.

How to Change a Mountain Bike Tire

The first step to replacing and fixing the tire is to remove it. Different mountain bikes require different methods to remove an old tire. If you are dealing with a fairly new mountain bike then there should be a lever on every axle on the bike. Simply pull that lever and it should automatically loosen up the tire. All you need to do then is pull the tire away from the bike and it should come away. Older mountain bikes however are a little more difficult. If you are dealing with an old mountain bike then you will need to use a wench to loosen up the axle nuts. Only once all the nuts are loose can you then remove the tire.

When you have managed to get the tire off the bike, you should ideally let the air out of it so that you can get to the inner tube. You want to remove the tube and to do that you will need a few mountain bike tools to help you. You need to get the tire away from the rim and to do that you need to pry at it. Be extra careful not to damage the tube whilst you are taking this step.

Once the old tire has been removed from the mountain bike, it is then time to install the new one. Place the tire onto the rim of the bike. This may sound simple but it can be really difficult if you do not take notice of what you are doing. You may need a few tools to help you a little but always ensure that you are extra careful not to damage the inner tube. If you do end up damaging the inner tube you will have to go through the whole process again. Not only is that a lot of extra hassle, but it is also a waste of money. So always make sure that you are careful in every aspect of changing your bikes tire. The Hutchinson fusion tires are best all around competition racing tires.

Overall changing a mountain bike tire is not as difficult as you may first imagine. You just have to be careful whilst you are doing it.
