There is even an increase risk of Alzheimer’s that has been associated with smoking. Studies have been conducted that show increasing risk for other forms of cancer as well as lung and these include breast and colon cancers. If improving your own health doesn’t give you enough reasons to quit smoking, it may be interesting to note how smoking has an impact on those around you.

The incidents of SIDS increases when there is a parent who smokes. Children who have parents that smoke are also at a higher risk of having chronic lung problems such as Asthma and there is also an increase in colic in babies who have parents that smoke. There is also an increase in the chances of developing lung cancer later in life when a child grows up with a smoker in the household. The impact on the health of the children in a household where there is a smoker is evident and should be a consideration when looking at reasons to quit smoking.

The overall health benefits of quitting smoking have been clearly documented and reported and are significant. There are other reasons to quit smoking and some of these include just the monetary aspect of smoking. Sit down and calculate how much money is spent on smoking in one month and look at that cost in a year. It can be a substantial amount and is just shocking enough to make many realize they need to quit smoking.

The reasons to quit smoking are numerous, and can be seen on a daily basis. Take some time to imagine your life without constantly having to smoke and then see what a difference it would make.
