For one thing, you need a special license in most states to carry a gun as opposed to merely owning a gun. For another, the consequences of your assailant taking the gun away and using it on you are far more severe than they would be with mere pepper spray.

Keep your car doors locked at all times, whether you are driving, parked on the street, parked in a parking lot, or parked in your own garage or on the street where you live.
