Sunshine Coast Australia
Queensland receives many tourists each year, attracted by the outdoor lifestyle and scenery. The coastal area in the southeastern part of the state is known as the Sunshine Coast Australia. The Pacific Ocean lies to the east and is a magnet for the world’s surfers and people who want to relax on the beautiful beaches. The Mooloolaba beach is famous for its stupendous waves. There are many attractions and the whole family will be entertained.
One of the most famous tourist destinations is Steve Irwin’s Australia Zoo near the Glass House Mountains. Since the tragic death of TV personality, Steve Irwin, the zoo has been run by his widow, Terri. There is a collection of Australian animals, such as koalas, crocodiles, wombats, Tasmanian Devils, snakes and kangaroos. For people who want to see marine life on the Sunshine Coast Australia, UnderWater World Marine Park is the place to go. Located at Mooloolaba, the highlight attraction is the moving walkway that goes underneath the shark tunnel in the aquarium. There are shows with performing seals and informative talks about local wildlife. Other animals on view include otters, freshwater crocodiles, crabs, and a stingray. The park also serves as a rehabilitation facility for dolphins, seals, turtles and dudongs.
The Big Pineapple is one of the more unusual tourist attractions on the Sunshine Coast Australia. It is a working farm near Nambour with rides, restaurants, food shops, souvenir shops and exhibits. Visitors can go on a tour of the pineapple plantation. One of the rides is a miniature train on which the driver gives interesting information about the farm. Another ride is called the Nutmobile, inspired by the Macadamia Nuts that also grow on the farm. This attraction on the Australia Sunshine Coast is great for a family day out. The children can feed the animals on the small animal area, which includes dingoes, alpacas, pigs, ducks, chickens, a deer and a donkey.
Everyone fantasizes about a gingerbread house when they are a small child. The Buderim Ginger Factory taps into that fantasy whilst still operating as a working factory. Visitors are welcome to tour the factory and view the exhibits. There are rides for the children and restaurants. At the end of the visit, visitors can take home some ginger products from the factory shop. The Sunshine Coast Australia, in addition to having these unusual attractions, has several National Parks. Golfers too will not be disappointed here and there are numerous link courses in the region.
