If there is one place in the world that I thought I would never be, it was Nashville Tennessee. It wasn’t that I didn’t think it was a fun place, I just thought of it as most do. It is the capital of country style music, and I don’t listen to it very much. My mom and my stepfather went there for their honeymoon, and they went because they are such big fans of that style of music. They had a good time and said many great things about the place, but I never imagined I would go there.
That changed in 2004 when my favorite singer performed there. This was the only opportunity that I would have to see him sing live, so I knew that I had to go. I was surprised that I actually liked being in Nashville Tennessee, and that the city had more to offer than just country music. Don’t get me wrong, there is a lot about music there, but it is definitely a city with a lot of great things going on. They have great arts of all types, and many unique things to see and do.
One thing that struck me about Nashville Tennessee was the people. They were all very kind, and it was obvious I was from out of town. Perhaps they know they have a lot of tourist, and they know they should treat them well. On the other hand, they may just be nice people as a whole. Perhaps it is a mix of the two. Whatever the case, I really didn’t run into many in the city of Nashville Tennessee that were not friendly and helpful, even with all of my stupid tourist questions.
Anyone looking for a great trip should not count out this city. Granted, the heat and the humidity in the summer can be oppressive, that is certainly true for most southern states. There is plenty to do, and many great things for families as well as couples. For the country music fan, it is of course a must see. Not only is the Country Music Hall of Fame there, so are many great historical sites that speak volumes about the music and the people of the that genre. Anyone could certainly do worse than a week or two in that fine city. Before thinking about anywhere else, consider a vacation in Nashville Tennessee. It won’t be your run of the mill vacation by a long shot.
