Most men know that they can bench press various amounts of weight when they want to get stronger and get bigger. Though this is something that happens in the arms and chest the most, there are machines that help with other parts of the torso as well as the legs. Most women won’t do this because they fear they are going to get big and bulky like men do. What they don’t know is that they don’t have the body chemistry for that to happen, and though there are a few exceptions, all you will get is strong and more toned if you are female.
Most men start out with the bench press when they feel they are too small. They start with a small amount and can work up to various heavy weights that will leave them strong, cut, and healthier. However, women often start with a small amount and don’t go much higher than that. They can if they want to, but they often bench press small amounts. Muscle can build up, and some don’t like that look. It won’t make you look like a man at all, but it can become a bit larger in areas. That is why they often find a weight they are comfortable with, but still offers a challenge, and they don’t go much higher than that.
If you are not sure what to do or how much you should bench press, you can find a personal trainer at your local gym. They should know where to start you out, and they can also couch you in the proper way to bench press so you get the most from your workout and so that you have proper form. Though this is something that is very easy to do, you do have to be sure you don’t strain yourself or lift in the wrong way. You can get hurt rather easily. You should always have a spotter, and the trainer will play that roll for you as well.
Once you know how to properly bench press, and how to slowly build up the amount you can lift, you can easily add this to a home gym, or make this the first thing you get for your new gym. A bench can be very simple if that is all you want, and the weights can be simple as well. You can also get one of those machines that doesn’t use free weights, but rather works with tension. Get what you can afford and what works the best for you. Just remember to bench press safely for great results and a healthier life.
