I have been taking belly dancing classes for several months now, and have really started to enjoy it. I really started out on a whim. Some people start to pick up belly dance clothing as soon as they take their first classes, but for me it seemed like an unnecessary luxury. After all, I didn’t know if I would stick with the class. All you really need to belly dance is something flexible and easy to move in, so until you get really good at it you don’t need any special clothes. A sweat suit or any kind of workout outfit will work just fine. You can even wear shorts and a t-shirt.
Nevertheless, belly dancing is an extremely sensual art. As such, belly dancing clothing can really make a big difference in your presentation. One of the things that most impressed me when I first signed up for the belly dance classes was watching the instructors gyrate their hips. It was absolutely mesmerizing. The jingling bells on their clothes and the shimmering scarves only added to the effect. If they had been just doing it in sweats and t-shirts, I don’t think I would have been quite as intrigued.
One of the neat things about belly dancing clothing is that it is pretty easy to improvise. Of course, there are many famous bellydancing clothing manufacturers who make sought-after pieces that can cost a fair bit. Nonetheless, you can also complements traditional belly dance clothes with your own homemade creations. By weaving silk scarves, jingling bells, and various other pieces together, you can make some very beautiful belly dancing skirts. That is why there are so many do-it-yourselfers who are attracted to belly dancing. You can greatly enhance the experience with belly dancing clothing that can be made at home.
