Getting the Right Apartment Furniture
You may think about furniture in regards to comfort and looks, but some have to think about size as well. When you have a smaller place, you have to have smaller furniture. You may find that the pieces that you love the most just seem to overwhelm your small space, and you end up feeling cramped and uncomfortable in your home. If you live in a small place, you should shop around for what some consider to be apartment furniture. Don’t worry though, you can find some great stuff in a smaller size.
There is nothing I love more (at least as far as furniture goes) than a nice overstuffed couch. I had one at one time, but when I moved to a smaller place in a nicer neighborhood, I found that my couch was too much for my space. This meant that I had to find apartment furniture. I hated to give up my lovely couch, but I knew it would drive me crazy after a while. It left little room for walking, and it also meant that I didn’t have room for many other pieces. That was simply not acceptable as I love to have friends and family over from time to time. I simply would not have had enough seating. It was time for apartment furniture.
I was under the impression that apartment furniture was going to be small and uncomfortable. Though the pieces that go well in apartments are more streamlined, they do have good seating that can be very comfortable. One key is to find furniture for the apartment that is in scale with your room. This might mean getting out the measuring tape to figure out how much space you have in the room, and how much you want to fill with your apartment furniture. When you shop, you can have your dimensions with you so you don’t get something too big.
You don’t always have to get apartment furniture when you live in a high rise or in any type of apartment or condo. Some have a lot of room, and in that case, you can get something larger to make the space feel more even. However, you do have to consider the size of the doors through which the furniture must pass. You may be limited in that way, and you may still have to get the smaller size of apartment furniture for your new place.
