You have your helmet, your cool looking leather jacket, and your studded riding gloves. It would seem that you have all of the essential motorcycle gear you would need for any given situation, right? Well maybe but when you are out on the open road you can never have too much motorcycle gear so you should make a list and try to always have all of the essential motorcycle gear available to you at all times.
You never know what can happen so an essential piece of motorcycle gear is a small tool kit that you store somewhere on your motorcycle and have available to you at all times. On the road anything can happen and even if you have no skills as a motorcycle mechanic at all you can still help yourself by keeping a small toolkit packed on your motorcycle at all times.

Once again you never know what can happen on the road and a flat repair kit, along with a small hand pump to re-inflate your tire, can be some of the most important pieces of motorcycle gear you can carry with you especially if you get a flat out in the middle of nowhere. Preparing for emergencies is always a good idea and a tool kit and a flat repair kit care two pieces of motorcycle gear that can help you to always be prepared.

The weather never cooperates when you really need it to so it is a good idea to carry motorcycle gear that can help you better deal with the elements. A rain poncho is a plastic piece of rain protection that can easily fold up small enough to fit into an available compartment on your motorcycle and it can protect you in case you get caught in a rain storm while out on your motorcycle. Remember that on a motorcycle you are completely exposed to the elements and a hard rainfall can make visibility difficult and traction tricky. Make sure you do everything you can to keep the rain from hampering your ability to control your motorcycle.
If you have the available storage room, and you really want to find yourself prepared for an emergency situation, you may want to consider storing a small tent as part of your motorcycle gear along with flares and other warning devices. If your motorcycle breaks down and you find yourself out in the middle of nowhere you can at least have some sort of protection from the elements with a small tent. The flare sticks, or flare guns if you prefer, can be used to let people know that you are in need of assistance and they should attempt to get help. You can never be too prepared for an emergency so take all of the precautions you can.
