Once upon a time, when a phone rang, all it did was ring. Now, with the advent of ringones for cell phones, they bark, moo, sing, boom, or start up your favorite song. Sometimes they even ring. One time I was riding the bus and heard a series of obscenities across the aisle. I turned to look and saw someone taking his phone out of his pocket and the obscenities immediately stopped. Contrary to what Apple would like you to believe, you don’t need to have an iPhone to have iPhone ringtones on your phone. Techno-geeks like to call this "pimping" or "tricking up" your phone. However, keep in mind that an iPhone ringtone costs at least $2 (US) to download (which is still cheaper than the cost of an actual iPhone).
You also are not stuck with the official selection of iPhone ringtones on Apple’s website. If you are willing to do a little online research and follow a bunch of instructions, then you can adapt your iPhone into taking just about any ringtone made for any phone on the planet.
