Spain Cycling Holiday

By: Jerry Gilders

There Is Such A Thing As A Fun Spain Cycling Holiday

When you think of a Spanish holiday, you probably think of traveling by horseback or a train. But cycling is very popular in all European countries and is environmentally friendly. A Spain cycling holiday gives you the chance to really see the country, meet people quietly and travel at your own pace. You can find more unexpected gems traveling on a Spain cycling holiday than taking a prepackaged bus tour.

Mountain Biking

There’s no need to stick to flat, dusty paths if you’re looking for a little adventure with a Spain cycling holiday. You can choose to go on a self-catering mountain biking holiday. You can tackle the natural Spanish landscape with varying degrees of difficulty. Don’t just rent a bike when you get to Spain and wander off, though. That’s not a safe option.

If you do a little research ? or pay your favorite travel agent to do the research and booking for you ? you can find Spain cycling holiday services that can get you maps of great trails, bike rentals and recommendations on how to best negotiate the trail. You also have a list of emergency services and recommendations on where to eat or sight see all ready listed for you.

Requirements For North Americans

Before you can book your Spain cycling holiday, you really should talk to your doctor about undertaking a rigorous holiday, in order to see if you are fit enough for it. You also should already bike a few miles a day just to be in good shape for the trails, hills and deserts in Spain.

You also need to get your paperwork in order. In order for Americans to travel to Spain, they need a valid U.S. Passport. That’s all Americans need if you are staying less than three months. If you are staying over three months (lucky you), then you also require a Visa. You also need to apply for a "Carta de Invitacion" from Spain itself. You need a travel agent to help you with that.

If you’re Canadian and want to travel to Spain, the requirements are just about the same, except you need a valid Canadian passport instead of a U.S. Passport for trips less than three months. You also need to get a Visa if you want to stay longer than three months. You also need to apply for a "Carta de Invitacion".

These requirements are just for tourist purposes only, and if you intend to stay the entire length of your trip in Spain. If you want to travel in and out of Spain, then you need a type of passport called a Schengen Visa.
