What Is A Blood Wart?
Many people are afflicted with unsightly blemishes. These blemishes are called warts and can affect any part of the body.
In actuality, these blemishes look like cauliflowers and are crusty in nature and are in fact tumors. These non-malignant tumors are caused by a virus which is called the human papillomavirus or HPV.
In addition, there are many types of warts. The five basic types of warts are common, flat, filiform, periungual and plantar.
Often warts are painless, but sometimes they become painful especially if located on a part of the body that aggravates the wart. This is especially true of plantar warts that are located on the foot and sometimes take on the appearance of a blood wart.
What Is A Plantar Wart?
A plantar wart is located on the posterior portion of the foot and looks almost like a callus or thickening area of the foot. This type of wart can be very painful because of the stress placed on the feet during walking and standing.
In addition, this type of wart starts off small. It begins by imbedding itself deep within the skin and then, over a period of time spreads and grows larger. This growth eventually adds to the discomfort of the individual.
Blood Wart Appearance
Often these types of warts give the appearance of being a blood wart. This is due to the fact that there appears on these warts pinpoint black specks.
These black dots appear on the upper layer of the wart and are actually specks of blood that have dried within the wart. This dried blood is due to the infection of the blood circulated in the small blood vessels known as the capillaries.
How Contracted
Because warts are caused by viruses a person with warts can be contagious. In addition, blood warts can be contracted in a number of ways
For example, a person with warts can spread the virus through direct contact, use of the same towel, washcloth, etc. Also, an individual can be infected with warts by frequenting public areas where the virus can thrive. Some of those places could include public pools, locker rooms, etc.
Treatment
There are many methods available for treating the plantar wart. Obviously, the infected individual wants symptomatic relief.
However, the best way to obtain relief of the painful symptoms associated with the plantar wart is to remove the wart. Those varieties of methods include excision, freezing, laser treatment, oral medication and solutions applied to the wart.
