Cancer Can Strike Anyone And Anywhere

Probably one of the most unusual roles for Sean Connery was his portrayal of a scientist looking into a way to eradicate cancer; some in authority believe the cure is not that far off and may be found in nature! Although there are other more awful diseases, this one holds the crown at the moment because of how often it is diagnosed; a cure would bring a sigh of relief everywhere. Whilst we do know about some of the causes of cancer, no-one can predict who, where or when it will be triggered.

Even now many people do not really understand what cancer is despite growing up with it all around them. Could it be true that we are all born with it? Well, it is a disease that's characterized by a large number of cells that continue to grow and divide; they invade and destroy adjacent tissues and may even spread to other anatomical sites through a process called metastasis.

The malignant property of cancer differentiates it from benign tumors which limit their growth and do not invade or metastasize. Some benign tumors, however, are capable of becoming malignant. Whilst it is not generally a young person's disease, it can occur at any age; Statistics show that the number of people cancer kills globally each year is about 13 in every one hundred.

Cancerous cells may have been transformed by radiation or poison, cigarettes for example and this creates genetic abnormality in those cells which then continue to grow and divide.

For some people the problem lies not with any form of external poison although faults with their parents DNA or genetic makeup can result in a person being born with the diseased cells. It would seem some people are more susceptible to it than others and it may be their genetic makeup and their exposure to certain carcinogens that is responsible.

Owing to the worldwide problem of cancer, it is regularly studied throughout the world and extending our knowledge on the subject. Much of the world's research into diseases is to try and find the reason why some people do not contract certain diseases whilst others do. By understanding the origins of cancer, perhaps we will be able to avoid contracting it until we come up with a cure.

The food you eat on a regular basis will have an effect on your health, especially in the future. Some believe it may even be causing a large number of cases in certain groups of people. People are generally eating too much of the wrong things such as an excess salt intake, too much saturated fat and certain dairy produce. Studies have shown that there is a connection between dairy produced calcium and prostrate cancer.

Cancer does not have any prejudice when it comes to invading a person's body as it can strike anywhere. This is an insidious disease that can take a long time to surface but fortunately the number of forms that can be treated is increasing all the time.

For those people diagnosed with cancer, my heart goes out to them and their families; however, the constant research is paying off and the life expectancy of cancer victims is increasing all the time.
