In Wow lore the warlocks are descendants of Mages that in a twist of fate switched to more darker and demonic practices. Having the casting spell abilities of Mages, warlocks can also inflict major pain and damage over time, also referred as DOT. They do this using curses that act slow but slowly inflict damage. If power leveling is your bag, the warlock multi target abilities allows them to have the highest XP rate in the game, making them shoot up the levels all the way to 70 incredibly fast.
