Psoriatic Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis Is Not Fun

By: Jessie Geralds

Psoriatic juvenile rheumatoid arthritis can be described as a combination of psoriasis and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. It will thus show the symptoms of both diseases. The most common symptoms stand in joint related manifestations, high fevers and light skin rashes. It is highly probable that the high fevers and rashes will appear and disappear very quickly. Lymph nodes might also be found on the neck and different other areas of the body as unexplained swellings. The real problem appears when the internal organs are also affected. The heart and sometimes the lungs can show signs of disease effect but this only happens in less than 50 percent of psoriatic juvenile rheumatoid arthritis cases. Children that suffer from pauciarticular juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis can also develop eye inflammation. It can lead to severe complications so attention is advised.

Symptoms of psoriatic juvenile rheumatoid arthritis can appear and disappear. We thus have two periods of evolution known as flares and remissions. In some cases we can notice around two flares and the symptoms might never appear again while other cases might show constant flares and remissions. It is very important to properly monitor the patient and treatment must be followed to the letter in order to avoid possible severe conditions that might develop in children suffering from psoriatic juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.
