When psoriatic arthritis and IBS are linked there is a need to undergo two different treatments, one for psoriatic arthritis and one for the irritable bowel syndrome. There is also a common misconception in thinking that IBS is in fact inflammatory bowel disease but this comes from the name associated with the two conditions. The later one is also known as IBD, which is different than IBS.
When dealing with an infection that causes IBS, sometimes linked with psoriatic arthritis, we are also seeing the term "post-infectious IBS", or IBS-PI. It is very similar with regular IBS but is used when the disease appears after the body developed an infection. In most cases, IBS that is linked with psoriatic arthritis is actually IBS-PI, developing because of various internal infections possible in psoriatic arthritis, which causes fever, a common symptom for both conditions. If you are suffering from both psoriatic arthritis and IBS, there is a need to consult your doctor as often as required and follow the treatment prescribed to the letter.
