Patients that suffer from psoriatic arthritis are faced with the problem of inflammation. It will sometimes affect the tendons located around the cartilage. If the tendon behind the heel is affected by inflammation, we see Achilles tendonitis developing and this leads to huge amounts of pain when climbing stairs or even just walking. This also creates fatigue and the entire body ends up being effected. We can also notice inflammation of the chest wall and of the cartilage that links the breastbone (usually known as sternum) to the ribs. Such a fact will cause chest pain, as visible in costochondritis. Such chest pain is the most experienced in patients dealing with psoriatic arthritis. With normal treatment solutions available, the inflammation can be reduced and thus chest pain will disappear. The problem is there are also cases when the chest pain may be caused by something else and not psoriatic arthritis. As already stated, the human body is not strong when suffering from the disease and inflammation of the internal organs is also possible. We can notice patients suffering from inflammation of the lungs, thus experiencing chest pain because of it. Also, the inflammation of the aorta will cause leaks in the aortic valve valves, a very tricky situation as it usually leads to chest pain, shortness of breath and even heart failure.
To put it simple, psoriatic arthritis should not cause chest pain as an immediate symptom but if we do feel chest pain while suffering from the disease, it is very important to consult a doctor as soon as possible because we might need special attention and our life can even be in danger.
