If you try to grow it at home, ensure that you have it mounted and kept in a real cold place. This is one of the best examples that prove orchids and cold weather can make a great combination.
The next on the list is the Christmas lily or the Calanthe triplicate or veritifolia. You will find that this orchid starts blooming from late November to the end of January. This is a huge plant that can grow up to one meter in height and about 20 centimeters in width. The flowers of this plant are somewhat big ? about three centimeters in length.
This plant loves to grow in shadowy areas in the forest and its roots though very long do not go deep; rather spreads just under the soil. Therefore, it is easy to grow in controlled medium where you can create the high humidity atmosphere it wants.
